Starbreeze helming reinvention of classic EA franchise (MoH?)

If you’re a fan of FPS titles The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay then, chances are, you’re also a fan of award-winning Swedish videogame developer Starbreeze Studios. Credit: Starbreeze.Third-party publishing monster Electornic Arts has today revealed that it is partnering with Starbreeze in order to “reinvent” one of EA’s most acclaimed and classic franchises. While giving absolutely nothing away regarding the identity of aforementioned classic franchise, EA has labelled the game with the internal codename of “Project RedLime” and also confirmed that it will appear on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows.“EA Partners is thrilled to hand over the keys to one of EA’s most acclaimed franchises to Starbreeze Studios,” trumpeted David DeMartini, VP and GM of EA Partners. “Starbreeze’s pedigree is undisputed and we could not be happier to welcome them to the EA Partners family. The team is creating an incredibly innovative take on a classic property and EA Partners is poised to deliver a blockbuster launch on the global stage.”
Also keeping his gaming cards extremely close to his chest, Starbreeze CEO Johan Kristiansson added that the studio is already “deep in development of Project RedLime” and that Electronic Arts is providing plenty of time for the team to perfect its vision. “We’re excited to bring a new perspective and gameplay innovation to this beloved franchise.”We can expect to receive more concrete information on Project RedLime in the coming months. Hmm. It’s a mystery. Or is it? M&C Gaming is going to stick its neck onto the rumour chopping block and say that, on the strength of Starbreeze’s prior creations and Activision’s award-winning revamp of its Call of Duty franchise, that the “acclaimed and classic franchise” in question is none other than EA’s wilting Medal of Honor.See if we’re wrong… we probably are actually. It would make sense though, because Starbreeze does a mean FPS and boy does Medal of Honor need the help.
