If you’ve been unlucky enough to experience the often less than impressive Xbox customer service line, then the following story is sure to arrive as comforting inspiration… the next time you power up your box for a session of Halo 3 only to be met with a ring of terminal red lights.

Specifically, online magazine The Consumerist reports that one of its readers decided to forego slogging through the infamous customer service mire by setting his sights a little higher on the complaints ladder when his (second) Xbox 360 recently decided to shuffle off the technological coil.
By exercising a little Microsoft research, the disgruntled Xbox 360 owner apparently uncovered the e-mail addresses for both outgoing chairman Bill Gates and also Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Worldwide Customer Service, Support and Customer and Partner Experience Kathleen Hogan.
Subsequently, rather than engaging in the frustration of haggling, discussing, and arguing with countless customer service representatives in order to eventually receive a refurbished console, the reader dispatched an explanatory e-mail to both executive addresses.
Amazingly, instead of being promptly filtered into an inbox Spam file or trashcan, the ambitious Xbox customer found himself contacted within 24hrs by the escalation department of Xbox customer services… informing him that a brand new console was on its way.
What a great outcome. If only everyone suffering with Xbox 360 deficiencies (particularly the Red Ring of Death) could have their problem addressed by someone other than a bottom-rung customer service monkey.
