Well, as long as GTA is not being sold to children, then this man has absolutely no business doing anything about this game. He can promise all the lawsuits he wants, but the humorous situation he finds himself in is that first day sales for GTA4 will undoubtedly cover the costs of any legal action taken against Rock Star. Society

This pathetic little man has no clue. By ranting on about video game violence he is adding controversy and greater appeal to the GTA franchise. There is no way he will win his case

I wouldn't go as far as saying this is a murder simulator, it's adult entertainment for an adult audience. Jack Thompson needs to better understand the demographic that this game is geared for, which is the average gamer who is now, statistically, a 28 year old male. I agree that younger audiences should be restricted from purchasing this game - but only to the same degree as film classification. Lets not go around trying to get the game banned. Violent computer games are NOT the cause of violent crime; crazy people are. Why doesn't Jack spend his time trying to ban crazy people from our streets?

I don't know why it is the retailers job to restrict the sales. If a parent lets their children go to a store and by M rated game isn't that their parenting choice? Parents should watch what their children buy, not retailers or the government.

Yes, retailers should be responsible for carding customers for mature rated games. If parents are willing to allow their kids to play these games (and I'm a parent of three), then the parents can buy the games for them. I don't want my kids to be able to stop at a store on the way home and buy GTA (not that they would, because they'd never play it without me knowing). If I say it's okay, then I'm perfectly capable of accompanying them to the store to buy it for them. It's the same as selling porn to minors. There needs to be clear lines and boundaries.
