Engine Software uncovers its 'big bang' for WiiWare

With Nintendo’s new downloadable videogame content service ‘WiiWare’ expected to launch in March of this year, it’s perhaps not unusual to see developers whipping the covers off their respective download projects in order to tease the anticipation glands of Wii fans everywhere. Credit: Engine Software.This week, Dutch developer Engine Software has disclosed that it has begun production of its very first WiiWare product, which is presently known under the working title of "Project Bang!"Engine Software claims that the somewhat vaguely named Project Bang will arrive as a casual gaming experience with addictive gameplay that utilises the innovation of the Wii Remote controller and also supports a two-player battle mode to flesh out the game’s appeal and longevity."We are very excited about our first game for the WiiWare service," enthused Ruud van de Moosdyk, VP of development at Engine. "When we acquired our official Wii license last year we already had several concepts written up that would be ideal for WiiWare, and Project Bang! is the first to actually go into production. We wanted to get rolling on this exciting new platform early on, and I am quite happy we are now on schedule to do just that."Engine Software, which has recently produced Puzzle Quest and the Marvel Trading Card Game (both for Nintendo DS) will be releasing more information regarding Project Bang – including its official name and screenshots – in the near future. It will also soon divulge details relating to future projects in the pipeline for download via WiiWare.When WiiWare finally arrives, Wii owners will be able to purchase and download games directly through the Wii Shop Channel in exchange for Wii Points – much like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 fans do via Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store.
