FIFA beats its Street drum

Credit: Electronic Arts.Existing as more of an off-the-cuff sporting distraction for football fans rather than a serious representation of the beautiful game, the FIFA Street series has been somewhat of a peek and trough experience in its past two outings.The first game was a refreshing, varied and amusing take on street football, while the second was an uncomfortable and messy affair weighed down by its sheer mass of stars and special moves -- and all-but crippled by twitchy, unreliable controls.However, with FIFA Street 3, publisher Electronic Arts is hoping to lift the series to new heights while also cramming in stylised characterisations of more than 250 of the world’s leading football players plucked from 18 of the very best international teams.Boasting authentic training kits and equipped with distinctive play styles and unique skill abilities, FIFA Street’s array of talent offers up Tricksters, Enforcers, Playmakers, and Finishers to complement those looking to create the perfect blend of brawn, brains, silky skills and crunching tackles.And, to help bolster the game’s appeal ahead of Friday’s launch (in Europe), the good folk at EA have dropped the following live action video of amazing 'parkour' street trixters combining throughout Mexico City in a breathtaking (CGI assisted?) viral clip to ensure FIFA Street 3 is well and truly hawked prior to it hitting retail shelves -- where it will no-doubt sell like Predator boots.Available from Friday, February 22, FIFA Street 3 will appear on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo DS.
