Bluray players work. HD DVD players are going to stop, what with the inability to play new movies and all.

You'll be trading something that won't work, for something that will.

Hence the paperweight remark

wow, Wendy is in total denial. Shes going to wait for 2 years or so for a quality multi format player. I don't think that's going to exsist. HD DVD is dead. accept it.

Even with the trade in its still a bad deal. Blu ray palyers will not be worth spending any money on until the bugs are worked out. That is not likely to happen for several more years.

All of the players that are currently available are already obsolete, the money you spend will be for 'creating momentum' for the Blu ray format. So in effect they are 'bricks' right out of the box.

HD DVD players are not going to suddenly stop working because Warner Bros. goes Blu ray exclusive in June. Paramount and Universal own the distribution rights for approximately 45% of the potentially available movie content in circulation on DVD.

Do I get to trade in my working Hd Dvd player for a BluRay player that plays their older movies and not their newer ones. Or is it the BluRay that plays the newer movies but not the 'newest' titles. Or is it their newest generation of player that will work for now, but no guarantee for future titles. Hmmm...It's great to know such a fine, finished format is winning this Hd format war ! No thanks! I'll just keep my working Hd Dvd player under water an all !!!

Format Wars always have a loser. HDDVD lost. All here who are defending HDDVD have good points, just like all who defended Betamax did. The lessoned learned is if you plan on watching HD movies, get a Blu-ray now. True that the longer you wait, the cheaper the blu-ray player. So if you can wait do it. But don't continue investing in HDDVDs while you wait. That's just bad economics. BTW, my 80g Sony PS3 works flawlessly everytime, with both movies and games.
