They are just looking for a way to get there OS into peoples computers, theres nothing special about Vista other than DX10, sure, they have written it from the ground up, but DX is not really a 'core' functional part of the OS as they claim. What i'd like to see is an OS which can shut down all the crap you don't need while playing games (Like Various System threads that are Operational but not required for the task at hand), virtually like a DOS mode, but still Operate the 3D games. Then you'd have a PC 100% dedicated to games, that might even rival 360/PS3, till then XP does me fine.
I have been using the Vista betas and RC's since 2005. Gaming has ALWAYS been weak on Vista vs. XP. I don't know what all this is about unless they have changed the entire subsystem since the release of RC2. Performance of games in Vista is a step back so far as I have seen.....now maybe IF real 'aero' based game engines are made there will be an improvement but for all existing games Vista is not recommended by me.
What a load of BS this article/propaganda is. Vista is the ultimate memory, hardware hog clunker and one of the most intrusive systems ever concocted. I think it is time we all tried a change of direction away from proprietary software like apple and Microsoft products. A message needs to be sent by the public to the morons at both companies and any other application manufacturer that uses proprietary tactics. It makes me sick to my stomach when I consider what I have past invested in companies that actually distrust the consumer. Never again. Bottom line though: Windows Vista is a lousy piece of software.
haha yeah right, ground up....innovation....faster, more productive. Just what it tells you when you install XP, 95 or 3.1 - same lies every time. Linux is the way, micrft are just trying to grab a few last pennys before its all too late.
