Looks like gamers are still bonkers about eviscerating their enemies with bloody fatalities.
Looks like knocking out teeth and tearing off heads is still the new black, at least in the Mortal Kombat universe.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, the final chapter of the Mortal Kombat franchise for current generation gaming systems, has shipped more than one million units to retail stores worldwide.
Midway also announced the action/adventure Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks has also shipped more than one million units worldwide.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is currently available for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox and is expected to release for the Nintendo Wii in April 2007 with exclusive features and game modes. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is now one of the backward compatible titles available for the Xbox 360, allowing Xbox 360 owners to experience Armageddon.
"For the last Mortal Kombat on current generation consoles our Chicago studio continues to deliver on amazing gameplay and intense fighting action that fans have come to expect and love from this long-standing franchise," said David Zucker, president and CEO, Midway. "We’re extremely pleased to see that Armageddon has received an enormous amount of praise from both the media and consumers alike."

-Once again the Mortal Kombat franchise takes home Spike TV’s Video Game Award for Best Fighting Game of the Year for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon -GameSpot awarded the Xbox Live downloadable Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 as Best Fighting Game of 2006 -IGN.com awarded Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Best Fighting Game of the Year 2006 -Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has received a number of awards, nominations and top review scores including IGN.com’s Editors’ Choice Award, 9 out of 10 from GamesRadar.com, 4.5 out of 5 from GameDaily, 9 out of 10 from Official Xbox Magazine and many more -1up.com nominated Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for Best Fighting Game of the Year
